Ichijiku’s smile cracks across Juto’s field of vision like a slap. “Iruma,” she says, the name slipping thinly between her lips, “do you know why I’ve summoned you to my office today?”

Juto has never been one for nervous gestures. No need to fiddle with your glasses and tuck your hair behind your ear when you’ve got some lowlife trembling in front of you on his knees. And yet, that smile on Ichijiku’s face has him running a hand down his dress shirt, smoothing out imaginary wrinkles. “To be honest, Ma’am, I don’t.”

The concrete floor beneath them echoes with the clack of Ichijiku’s heels as she walks towards Juto. “I can’t say I’m surprised, but I’m not looking for brains. Iruma, I need a bodyguard.”

Surprise drops out of Juto’s mouth before he can stop himself. “You do?”

Ichijiku laughs at that, ample chest heaving. Too bold for prettiness, and Juto hopes she’ll eat him alive. “You’re supposed to be a resourceful sort of man. What do you think I want, right now?”

Juto gapes. “Could it be,” Ichijiku continues, “the same thing that you want?”

“I don’t know,” he says, feeling foolish.

Ichijiku grabs him by the tie. “Iruma Juto. Why don’t you get on your knees and show me just how loyal you can be.”

A/N: there's this deeply self-indulgent yakuza AU that exists fondly in my heart where samaichi are a beautiful criminal power couple together and this could have been a ficlet about samaichi destroying their enemies, but it isn't. Because you said "bodyguard AU" and "Saburou being a little bitch" and MAN I LOVE THAT BRATTY INFANT SO MUCH, I'm so fond of characters who really do have skills but think they're more capable and adult than they are and who sometimes get knocked on their butts for it, that's all I ever want for Saburou.

So this is Saburou in the samaichi yakuza AU setting of my heart, I hope it is something you will like. (Riou works for Samatoki that's actually where Ichirou found him.)
