Likes: Slow build, friends to lovers, oblivious pining, fake dating, dating-but-they-didn't-know-it, soulmate AUs, gratuitous swearing, aged up characters, misunderstandings, angst with a happy ending, happy endings in general (in every meaning of the word. wink wonk!!). I hesitate to put this because some people are on the fence about it but I LOVE A/B/O GOD DANGIT.

Dislikes: Non-con, vore, referring to dudes as girly, cheating, abusive relationships, underage relationships.

Anything else: as An Old I especially love watching people deal with stupid adult problems like.... bills and deadlines and grocery shopping and ineffective management. Domestic stuff goes right to my heart. But honestly I would love anything. <3

Reminder that NOTES are welcome too - just a nice little comment (either plain, or you can even type it up on a nice little graphic/image etc.) for the recipient.

(Comments are going to screened until the reveal on Feb 14. Lockers will be open until the end of Feb.)

EEEEEE, a fellow Check Please! fan. XD S'awesome. I hope you have a great V-Day and like this little ficlet.

-----------------------

Jack would never dare to tell his mother this but Bittle made the best apple pies that Jack had ever tasted. The golden crust was buttery and flaky, solid on the bottom and sides with no mushiness. The inner filling of soft apple chunks, spiced liberally and with the perfect amount of crunch, was so good that Jack always found himself closing his eyes when he took the first bite.

At first, he’d thought that he liked the pies so much before they reminded him of home.

Later, he realized that it was because they were made by Bittle. His favorite taste of home, made by his favorite man. What could be better?

Every bite summoned up memories of sitting at the kitchen table while Bittle coaxed the Haus oven into working, busy at work spreading butter on the inside of the pie tins. Whoever helped prep the pies, whether it was by chopping up apples or greasing the tins, would get a fresh pie piping hot from the oven.

Jack was sure his team had never been so interested in culinary efforts before Bittle showed up with his hoard of pie tins and enough recipe cards to play poker.

He licked the crumbs from his fingers unashamedly and took a second bite, this time letting his open eyes roam over the Falconers in the living room. Everyone was happily boasting about the homecooked treats that their girlfriends or wives had sent, the supposed rewards of having successfully executed a romantic a Valentine’s Day celebration.

Jack wasn’t going to brag about his picnic with Bittle or the night that followed. That was private.

Still…

It was nice to know that if he did decide to talk about it, the Falconers would all listen and then razz him with the same good-natured mockery they’d show to any other team member. They’d all met Bittle and all instantly liked him. Having been buttered up beforehand with his cooking hadn’t hurt his cause, of course, and more than one Falconer had begged Jack for a bite of the pie when he’d taken it out from the oven after reheating it and the smell had wafted through the house.

Supportive teammates, a culinary genius for a boyfriend, parents who accepted and liked his boyfriend, a career in the NHL…

Yeah, Jack decided as he took a third bite of the lovingly-made pie. Life was swaesome.
