Hajime holds his cards closer to his face and scowls at them. He should try to be more subtle, Oikawa thinks, and tugs the seven from him.

"Wahoo!" Oikawa crows, matching it with the seven in his own hand and discarding them both. "How is Iwa-chan? Does he need me to go easier on him?"

Hajime, impressively, manages to scowl deeper. And pulls the joker from Oikawa's hand. "Fuck," he says.

"Language, Iwa-chan."

"Fuck you," he says.

"Iwa-chan is such a brute. How do I put up with him?"

Hajime grumbles but doesn't reply, as Oikawa dithers over his options.

"You don't put up with me," Hajime says, when Oikawa does pick a card, and makes another match.

"Hm?" Oikawa says, offering his hand again.

"Don't say stuff like that. You like me. I'm your damn friend. You don't 'put up' with me."

Ah. "Iwa-chan, you're very stupid," Oikawa says, carefully.

Hajime's eyes don't leave Oikawa's face. "Probably," he says. "Why else would I be friends with someone who won't even admit he's my friend." Oikawa wishes he would play the game.

"Perhaps," Oikawa says, still careful, "it's because Iwa-chan is nicer than most people. Perhaps, it's that he doesn't normally mind that his best friend--"

"Is an asshole?" Hajime says over him.

"Exactly!"

"Be nicer," Hajime says.

"Mmhm!"

"And let me win."

Oikawa laughs. "Iwa-chan should know better than to ask me for that."

Hajime laughs, too. "Yeah, I should," he says, and takes a card.
