hi, happy valentine's day! i was inspired by your list of AUs, so i wrote you a kagehina superhero AU meet-cute. i hope you like it! :>

Saving the world is a full-time occupation for a professional superhero like Kageyama. He has his mask and his cape and the power of flight, and what else does he need? He's good at what he does and he's well-respected for it. He definitely doesn't need some newbie coming in and trying to be his sidekick.

It started on a sunny afternoon, when "Solarman" first appeared at the scene of a crime—a crime that Kageyama was already dealing with, mind you. Solarman had none of the dignity that Kageyama had spent years honing. He tripped over evidence, he bungled his big speeches... he could barely even fly!

And to top it all off, he had the nerve to think that Kageyama needed his help. "I want you to work with me," he'd said—not "I want to work with you," not "Wow, I can't believe I'm finally meeting The Crow!" Nothing but rudeness.

Kageyama thought that would be it, but Solarman kept popping up, following him around like a bad smell. Trying to be his sidekick.

Well, it wasn't going to happen, and Kageyama would make sure of it.

The next time their paths cross, it's over something minor. The distress signal goes out, but when Kageyama arrives at the scene, he finds it's a cat stuck up a tree. With the cat are two boys, one of whom looks far more enthusiastic about their friendship than the other. "I'm sorry!" the taller boy says. "We were playing with it but it ran up the tree and I didn't know what to do so I... called for help..."

"This is stupid," Kageyama says. "Don't waste my time with things like this in the future."

And then, a shout from behind him: "No problem is too small for Solarman to solve!"

Kageyama turns around to see the idiot with the bright orange cape hovering weakly a few feet off the ground. "You!"

"That's right!" Solarman says. "Me! I'm here to save the day, and this poor ca—"

He doesn't get to finish, because Kageyama flies up and grabs him by the cape, dragging him away. In the distance, he sees the smaller boy get on his friend's shoulders. Maybe they'll have more luck with the cat than Solarman. Instead, Solarman is headed straight for a scolding.

"What do you think you're doing?" Kageyama snaps. "You're always trying to take my cases! That distress signal was for me!"

Solarman pouts. "Don't be so mean. Every superhero needs a sidekick."

"Well, you can't be mine," Kageyama says.

"Actually, I was hoping you'd be mine," Solarman says. He continues, unperturbed by the glare Kageyama's giving him. "See, having a big name like The Crow as my sidekick would really give my career a boost."

"I've been doing this for three years now," Kageyama says. "What have you been doing? How have you been wasting your time? You can barely fly, and you think someone like me would be your sidekick! What have you been doing?"

Unexpectedly, Solarman grins. He has an almost shy smile, and Kageyama's taken aback for a second by the sudden shift. "Why don't you teach me, then?" Solarman asks.

Kageyama has another speech prepared about civic responsibility and serious use of superpowers, but he surprises himself by saying none of it. Instead, he says, "Okay."
